Description

Drawing heavily from the historic Louis XIII design movement, this statement piece showcases a masterfully inlaid parquetry top in a traditional geometric diamond pattern. Grounded by magnificent hand-carved barley-twist legs and a low structural H-stretcher base, it perfectly bridges the gap between rustic farmhouse warmth and sophisticated period elegance.

Exceptional Extending Versatility – This antique french barley twist dining table offers superb space-saving utility, making it highly adaptable for modern entertaining:

Closed Dimensions: 1652mm x 890mm (approx. 5.4ft x 2.9ft) — Ideal for comfortable daily seating of 4 to 6 guests.

Fully Extended Dimensions: 2830mm x 890mm (approx. 9.3ft x 2.9ft) — Smoothly deploys via dual integrated end draw-leaves to comfortably accommodate 10 to 12 guests.

Barley-Twist Base: The standout architectural feature is the robust, beautifully turned barley-twist legs, iconic to late-Renaissance French furniture.

Diamond Parquetry: The tabletop features expertly squared oak marquetry panels that beautifully accentuate the historic grain patterns of old-growth French oak.

H-Stretcher Support: A heavy, floor-level stretcher base provides maximum stability while paying homage to traditional 17th-century refectory tables.

Condition & Character – Please Note, this table is in good, structurally sound antique condition. True to its age, it features a wonderful, authentic patina with minor surface marks and character dings. As is common with authentic extending tables of this era, there is a distinct color variation between the main tabletop and the extension leaves. The main surface has mellowed to a lighter, warm honey-oak tone from decades of natural light exposure, while the protected pull-out leaves retain their richer, darker original finish. This variation adds beautiful historic character and tells the story of the table’s journey through time.
