Wolf Wood Treehouses, Bratton Clovelly, Devon

What a treasure this project is – simply stunning! We had the absolute most pleasure in providing much of the reclaimed timber for our customer to use as flooring and wall cladding. The project has been completed to such a high standard it is simply amazing! Our gorgeous wide board Pitch Pine features on many walls as does our Reclaimed Kentucky oak. The age and beauty of the boards just lends itself so naturally to the environment – it simply works.

Simon & Sarah Wroe – Our first ‘Half Tonne’ Table

Bespoke tables are a speciality of Winkleigh Timber. Simon and Sarah came to visit our showroom and whilst it’s fair to say loved many of our tables, they wanted something a little different. Chunky, thick top with a unique base to seat about 14 people! Bespoke, is what we do and after viewing some of our timbers they settled on the sleeper table. Using 8” x 4” oak sleepers, we have machined them into a chunky table top with bolts securing them in place full width. The base was also constructed from oak – it need to be something particularly weight bearing to take half a tonne of oak on the top – hence the ‘Half Tonne’ table was created.

Browns Deli, Torrington, Devon 2017

Quite an easy supply job for us really, a local (wonderfully tasty) deli seeking a new floor to upgrade the shop. Our customer was particularly looking for a wider board of which we had just recently acquired a lorry load of timber from the old Elizabeth Shaw Factory based in Bristol. These boards would have been laid in the factory for decades, probably even used as ceiling boards maybe. Whilst standing the test of time in factory conditions, we have now given them a second lease of life and not only do they look highly desirable as the new shop floor but will withstand the test of a high footfall area.

Cornish Orchards, Duloe, Cornwall 2017

We were delighted to be asked to make the furniture for a new office suite for the ever expanding Cornish Orchards. After several discussions and viewings of the different timbers, the rustic ‘Quay’ pine material was selected to be the natural base for the hub of the company. The company had a fairly good idea of what they were looking for therefore, they just need us to make to their design with our beautiful raw material. We made several workstations, office storage cupboards, a stunning display dresser and two gorgeous board room tables. The following year we were asked to complete phase two of the project which involved a kitchen/canteen area for the staff and also for tasting parties. The outcome of the whole project was very successful – having customers who appreciate natural resources and know what they want combined with our skilled team leads to many happy days!

Farmer Luxton’s, Okehampton, Devon

Having been involved previously with many commercial ventures, it was our pleasure to be asked to make shop fittings and display cabinets for Farmer Luxton’s extension earlier this year. Having known Stuart for many years, it was no surprise that he would come to Winkleigh Timber for quality bespoke furniture. After many meetings at Winkleigh Timber and on site to measure up, we finally had the design and thoughts that Stuart envisaged. From old style market stalls for the fruit and veg display to highly durable tables for the café/restaurant area – we built totally bespoke, hand painted units and varnished tables. The overall look was fantastic. Along with the other services that had gone into the project and of course all of the lovely fresh, local produce the new look of the shop certainly entices you in.

SPALTED BEECH RESIN FINISH TABLE

Using some of our beautiful reclaimed spalted beech, our joiner has spent time, patience and effort in creating this wonderful piece of furniture. This has been a labour of love applying many layers of resin to a very porous timber and building it up to a superb glass like finish. Not only does the timber have a past and could probably tell a few stories but, with the resin finish it is brought back to another life and one with a very modern, contemporary feel. This table will undoubtably go to a very loving home where is will be appreciated for many years to come and hopefully be past through a few generations to tell even more stories.
