Product Specification

We endeavour to display as accurately as possible the colours of our products that appear in our showrooms, on our website and other promotional materials.  We cannot guarantee the complete accuracy of the pictures or photographs that are shown.  Many conditions such as monitor settings and batching can affect the colouring of items in a picture.  If you are concerned about the finish of any item, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Furniture, Doors & Windows

All of our furniture is hand made from both reclaimed and new timbers therefore appearances will vary from piece to piece.  We do not distress our timber to look great – we use distressed timbers that already look great!  You will find original nail holes, saw marks, wood splits, wood filling and knots.  Colour tones vary creating an authentic look.  Wood filler may be used to cover nail holes particularly in the new oak furniture.   Please remember, wood is a natural product and it will take time to settle – your furniture will most likely be going from a cold factory into a warm, heated house so please do expect some movement until it acclimatises.

Natural Flooring Products

  1. SHADE VARIATIONS – All wood and stone products are a natural product therefore there will be variations of the colour on each tile or wood piece.  Samples are submitted as a representative of a type and colour.  Tiles supplied in a consignment may vary from such samples.  We also display our products in our showroom often in large areas to give a better impression however, there is no guarantee that any floor will be identical in shade, colour or texture.  Winkleigh Timber cannot accept any claim based on the above.
  2. THICKNESS – Natural flooring materials may differ in thickness from tile to tile and also within an individual tile.  Also some tiles will have a natural undulating appearance.  Winkleigh Timber cannot accept any claim based on the above.
  3. CHISEL MARKS AND CHIPPED EDGES – These are characteristics of natural flooring as is minimal surface flaking which can be removed with a stiff brush.  Winkleigh Timber cannot accept any claim based on the above.
  4. ALL CUSTOMERS – should allow up to 10% wastage factor on all natural flooring and roofing slate due to breakage in pallets however, this wastage can be used in cuts during the fixing process.
  5. LARGE GREY SLATE FLAGSTONES – can oxidise when they come into contact with moisture so giving them a brown, rustic look which is natural iron in the slate itself.  Winkleigh Timber cannot accept any claim based on the above.
  6. TERRACOTTA – Clay made into tiles by man or machine, sometimes a combination of both.  Terracotta contains natural earth salts which can appear on the tiles surface – this is all part of the products character.  Terracotta tiles can have fissures or chips in the tile, this once again is part of the natural character.  Some handmade terracotta tiles may have sharp edges when they have been cut in production.  These edges can be improved by lightly sanding before laying.Terracotta will vary in shade and colour.  We display our terracotta in large floor areas within our showroom, these floors have been in-situ for a long period of time and therefore give an aged and lived in appearance.  Therefore, when terracotta is first linseed oiled and waxed it will give a new shiny appearance and it will not bear any resemblance to our showroom floors.  Given time and waxing, your floor should develop an aged and lived in appearance.  Winkleigh Timber cannot accept any claim based on the above. Please measure carefully when ordering as Winkleigh Timber is not able to accept any returns unless faulty.
