Can i ask for a different finish?

We recommend our traditional finish of wax polish and hard wax oil as we have used these products on our timbers for some 30 years now and believe them to be a solid and durable finish. Wood being a natural product, varies naturally in colour therefore, when a wax or oil is applied the colour variation is highlighted.

What is character grade oak?

Character grade oak is a mid range classification that highlights the trees natural growth features. What does it mean? The wood will have knots, surface marks and colour variation. These are not imperfections – these are what provides the character. The opposite to Character is Prime Oak. We do not stock Prime Oak. Prime Oak material has a uniform appearance with a even colour tone and minimal knots.

Can i put my table on underfloor heating?

You can put your oak table onto a floor with underfloor heating. There are few rules to follows to ensure your table is cared for though.
1) Ensure the table is well sealed and kept sealed to avoid moisture getting into the wood.
2) Control the floor temperature to a safe surface temperature
3) Avoid sudden temperature changes
4) Manage the room humidity correctly.

How often do i need to re wax or oil my table?

You will receive a complementary care kit with your table which, contains the exact products we use on your finish. Along with that, a full care guide and how to. Generally, you do not need to wax or oil your table immeadiately but, we do recommend further coats of oil periodically for a good wearing surface.

How do i maintain my table on a daily basis?

Providing your table has the hard wax oil finish, we recommend wiping your table over with a damp (not wet) kitchen cloth to keep it clean and then dry with a paper towel or dry cloth. Do not use any harsh chemicals, a natural daily kitchen cleaner will suffice. We recommend keeping your table clean after use and avoid any spills or marks to maintain the natural finish.

Friends have advised that wood will warp and crack? Is this true?

Real wood is a natural living product. All of the timber that we use for our tables and furniture is kiln dried. This means that the moisture has been taken out of the wood until it’s ready for use. This makes the wood stable and ready for use. The room temperature and humidity is priority to letting the table acclimatise.

What are the best flooring materials for a kitchen?

When it comes to home improvement projects, installing wood flooring can be a game-changer. Not only does it add elegance and warmth to your space, but it also increases the value of your home.

Whether you want to lay solid wood flooring on a concrete subase or over floor joists, we will walk you through the process. We’ll also help you determine which rooms are suitable for wooden floors and explore the different types of wooden flooring available.

I see you offer worktops - do you come out and measure up?

Yes, we offer wooden, slate, quartz and granite worktops. Depending on your location (we can only offer the Southwest) we will come out measure your existing kitchen (with the old tops removed for accuracy), machine here and then come back to fit. I've heard bad things about Quartz recently

Quartz has been in the news recently for health reasons. Not for use in the home but, for the health of the person or persons machining it pre fitting. We use a water fed machine to machine all of our stone materials and staff are fully equipped with PPE for safety. Water fed machining keeps the fine dust away and is much safer than dry machining.
