A truly great dining table is the heart of your home—the place where families gather, stories are shared, and memories are made. Because every home is unique, we don’t believe in “one size fits all. We handcraft every single piece from scratch right here in our workshop. Here is how easily you can design your perfect, hand-finished table with us.
🌟 The Law of the Forest: Your Table Will Be 100% Unique.
When you buy a mass-produced, veneered table from a high-street chain, every item rolling off the factory line is identical, sterile, and artificial. We don’t work that way. Every single table that leaves our workshop is an entirely individual piece of art. No two trees are identical, which means no two pieces of timber we source are ever the same. While you can absolutely choose the same structural style, leg shape, and wood type as a table you see in our showroom or gallery, your table will possess its own soul and character.
Individual Grain Patterns: The unique swirls, growth rings, and cathedral patterns belong entirely to your tree.
Natural Variations: Mother Nature dictates the placement of beautiful knots, subtle tonal shifts, and character marks.
A Finish Exclusive to You: Because wood is an organic, breathing material, it takes our hand-rubbed oils differently every single time, creating a depth of finish unique to your piece. You aren’t just ordering a table style; you are commissioning a completely individual family heirloom. Nobody else in the world will ever own a table exactly like yours.
Step 1:
Select Your Timber Character
The wood you choose sets the entire tone of your room. We offer two beautiful, high-quality choices:
1. Reclaimed Eco-Pine The Look: Rich with centuries of history, pale textural tones, and beautiful original marks. Our Promise: 100% of the pine we use is genuinely reclaimed. Because this timber has survived decades of a previous life, it carries a wonderful history of historic nail marks and unique weathering. No two planks look alike, ensuring your table’s character cannot be replicated by any modern factory.
2. Oak –
Clean & Smooth Finish: Perfectly sanded down for a flawless, sleek surface that highlights the elegant, unpredictable movement of natural oak grain. Ideal for modern, elegant spaces.
Rustic Finish: Celebrates the natural, rugged texture of the oak, deliberately highlighting its tough, enduring nature, natural cracks, and knots.
Our Distinctive Brown Oak: A highly sought-after, rich timber with deep, dramatic caramel and chocolate tones.
Step 2:
Choose Your Tabletop Layout
How the timber planks are arranged changes the overall visual statement of your table. Pick the style that catches your eye:
One-Plank Tops: Cut from a single, exceptionally large tree trunk. This creates a breathtaking, continuous surface with zero seams.
Mirror Image / Bookleaf Top: We take two consecutive cuts of wood from the same tree and open them up like a book. The grain patterns mirror each other perfectly down the centre line, creating a spectacular piece of natural art.
Live Edge (Waney Edge): We preserve the organic, natural curves of the original tree trunk along the outside edges of your table, celebrating raw nature in its truest form.
Step 3:
Pick Your Hand-Crafted Leg Style – The base defines the table’s silhouette. Match your home’s personality with one of our classic or contemporary leg designs:
The Classics:
Square Leg / Taper Leg: Timeless, clean, and understated. (Taper legs narrow elegantly toward the floor).
Turned Leg: Traditional, beautifully sculpted curves that bring a classic English farmhouse feel.
The Statement Makers:
Refectory (Turned or Square): Inspired by old monastery dining halls, featuring thick timber legs connected by a beautiful low-running footrest rail.
Cross Leg / Swept Leg: Striking X-shaped frameworks or sweeping arcs that look exceptional on both round and rectangular tables.
The Modern Profiles: A-Frame (Slimline or Chunky): Clean geometric lines that lend an industrial or Scandinavian edge.
Painted Base: We can paint any timber base in the exact colour of your choice (Mylands Paint as standard), contrasting beautifully with the natural wood top.
Step 4:
Determine Your Perfect Size; Seating -The golden rule of table buying: you need enough room for your guests, and enough room to move around the room comfortably.
How to measure your space: Measure your room and subtract 90cm from all sides. This leaves the perfect amount of clearance space to comfortably pull out chairs and walk behind seated guests.
Our Seating Capacity Guide:
150cm to 160cm Length: Comfortably seats 4 to 6 people (Ideal for smaller dining areas or compact kitchens).
180cm to 200cm Length: Comfortably seats 6 to 8 people (Our most popular everyday family size).
220cm to 240cm Length: Comfortably seats 8 to 10 people (Perfect for those who love to host large gatherings).
Maximize Space with Matching Benches: We can handcraft matching benches that are sized perfectly to slide fully under the table when not in use.
Watch It Come to Life. You aren’t just buying a table; you are part of the craft. Once you confirm your choices, the magic happens in our workshop:
Timber Selection: We invite you to see the raw timber slabs hand-selected for your build.
Photo Updates: We can send updates directly from the workbench if you wish, so you can see your wood being planed, joined, and finished.
Delivery & Assembly: Our personal team will bring the table directly into your home, assemble if required in your room of choice, and ensure it is perfectly placed.
Timeline & Next Steps: Because your table is fully built by hand from raw timber. our standard lead time is 6 to 8 weeks from your initial deposit to delivery. We believe that true, lifelong craftsmanship takes time, and we promise it is worth the wait.
